Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows 365 a couple of days ago. The service allows businesses to securely stream the full Windows experience as the OS is hosted on the Microsoft Cloud. This essentially means that employees do not require special hardware and can just enroll in the program to utilize a personalized Windows experience. The Redmond tech firm also stated that it is expanding its App Assure program to cover Windows 365, in order to ensure that organizations don't face app compatibility issues when transitioning to the service.
Microsoft kicked off free trials for the program with its launch, but has now decided to halt it due to capacity issues. The Director of Program Management for Windows 365, Scott Manchester noted that the company has seen an "unbelievable response" to its latest offering, which has now reached full capacity. As such, the trials are being paused until more capacity is provisioned. Those still interested in trying out Windows 365 have been requested to sign up for notifications here so that they can be informed once trials resume.
Windows 365 is available in two flavors: Enterprise and Business. Pricing tiers start from $20/user/month for 1 vCPU, 2GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage, going all the way up to $162/user/month for 8 vCPU, 32GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. You can compare the full range of pricing plans here.
