A few months ago, Microsoft clarified in no uncertain terms that Windows 10 Mobile is no longer a focus for the tech giant. Then, quite recently, it was confirmed that no new Windows 10 Mobile Insider Preview builds would be released in the future. However, app updates are still being pushed out to users registered on the Insider Program.
Microsoft Photos is the latest app to receive an update on Windows 10 Mobile. This update bumps the app to version 18011.13438.0, and is currently only available for Insiders on the Fast ring.
The design has been refreshed, with the new layout quite reminiscent of the PC version of the application. This similarity seems particularly noticeable when the app is used in landscape mode. Similarly, new editing tools have been introduced to the app. Some of the new editing features like ''Improve'' and "Rule" have been present on the Windows 10 Photos app for some time. Moreover, the ability to change images with one's own designs has been introduced as well. Essentially, this will allow users to draw, scribble, and write on their photos.
Many other new features such as a new button to go full screen, and a new "Play" icon for videos on the homepage have been added as well. More of these minor changes will become apparent to Insiders who regularly use the application. Notably, the app performance has reduced considerably for some users, following this update.
In any case, if you're part of the Fast ring on the Windows Insider Program, you're currently eligible to update the Photos app on your Windows phone.
