Ever since their unveiling last month, anticipation has been gradually building for the launch of the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, Microsoft's new Windows 10 Mobile flagships. But for those keen to get their hands on the new devices in the UK, things have been a bit, well, confusing.
Microsoft originally listed the Lumia 950 there at £499.99 off-contract, with the XL at £549.99 - but in late October, it reduced the prices of both handsets. At their new prices of £449.99 and £529.99 respectively, it opened pre-orders on its UK store, but then quickly suspended them. As we reported a couple of days ago, company reps indicated that pre-orders would re-open next week - but in fact, they're already available again today, as Microsoft MVP Michael Gillett spotted today:
But while Microsoft Store UK is currently accepting pre-orders again, you might want to hold off for a moment before jumping in.
Amazon UK cut the prices of both devices earlier this week - that means you can now reserve the Lumia 950 there for £429.99 (£20 less the Microsoft Store); and the 950 XL for £479.99 (£50 savings compared with Microsoft).
However, while those savings are certainly appealing, there is one unfortunate downside: while the Microsoft Store is promising shipments by December 3, Amazon says you shouldn't expect their devices to ship until December 12.
Still, it's nice to have options.
