If you've got a Surface Pro 3, it's once again time to check for updates. Microsoft today made new firmware available for the device, but unfortunately, we don't know what it fixes just yet.
Some users have been complaining about battery issues for well over a month. The issue only affects devices with a Simplo battery and Microsoft discovered that it could be fixed with a software update. That was over a month ago, but a week and a half ago, the company said that it was testing a fix.
Surely, users of Microsoft's last-generation flagship tablet are hoping that today's firmware update contains the long-awaited fix. Sadly, there is simply no way to know at the moment, and there won't be until the company publishes a changelog. Note that it's normal for the firm to push out an update without it being reflected on the Surface Update History page for a few hours.
The update does seem to be rolling out to all Surface Pro 3 models, rather than just those with Simplo batteries. We'll keep you updated as we learn more about today's firmware. Until then, you'll just have to hope for the best.
Update: Microsoft has confirmed that today's update fixed the Simplo battery issue; however, there is still no changelog.
Have you received the new firmware yet, and has it fixed the battery issues for you? Let us know in the comments!
