Microsoft's Windows 8 app teams have been quite busy over the last few weeks, launching major updates to existing apps and offering up some new ones to download such as Yammer Feed and the Network Speed Test app. As it turns out, the Microsoft Dynamics team launched no less than three new Windows 8 apps in the Windows Store this week.
All of the apps are designed to work with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2. One is for Approvals, to give business users a quick and easy way to check on and approve items like expense reports, budgets and more. It can even connect to co-workers via Lync to have them clarify the approved items.
The second Dynamics AX 2012 app is for Timesheets. As the title indicates, users can make new timesheets for their businesses, view a list of existing timesheets and sent them for approval. The third new Dynamics AX app for Windows 8 is for Expenses and like the Timesheets app, it allows for expense reports to be created, edited and sent for approval.
In a blog post, Microsoft Dynamics team member Brian Welcher states that while all the apps can be downloaded and used, they cannot be connected to a business's Dynamics AX 2012 system just yet. He added, "In the next few months, we will provide some updates to the AX server infrastructure as well as updated versions of the apps that will leverage the Windows Azure Service Bus to connect to your on-premises Dynamics AX 2012 R2 instance."
