Microsoft has announced the general availability of Visual Studio 2022 and .NET 6, both of which are available for download. Visual Studio 2022 for Mac, to be clear, has not reached general availability but the firm did announce the release of the third preview which comes with .NET 6 and more – additionally, it was announced that a future preview will add M1 support.
In its announcement, Microsoft highlighted that the point of this release to make life a bit easier when coding. Two new features that improve the programming experience are IntelliCode and Hot Reload. IntelliCode is an AI-assisted code companion tool that can help you write entire lines of code. To insert the suggestion, it’s just a matter of double-tapping the tab key. IntelliCode is also on the lookout for repeated edits and suggests fixes in your code where there are similar issues.
With Hot Reload, which works with .NET and C++, you can instantly see changes to your program after making code edits. With Hot Reload there is no need to redeploy and launch your program either, saving you time and reducing frustration.

To use the latest preview features that drop in those cutting edge builds go to Tools > Manage > Preview Features to switch items on or off.
