Microsoft releases Windows 10 versions 19041.329, 18363.900 - here's what's new

Today is Patch Tuesday, and that means that all supported versions of Windows are getting updated today. There's a new version that's included this month too, as the Windows 10 May 2020 Update was released a couple of weeks ago.

As usual, these updates are mandatory. Historically, Microsoft would also release some optional updates throughout the month, but it hasn't been doing this because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

If you've already upgraded your PC to Windows 10 version 2004, you'll get KB4557957, bringing the build number to 19041.329. you can manually download it here, and these are the highlights:

  • Updates an issue that prevents you from using some voice commands in Windows Mixed Reality when the default Windows language is Canadian or Australian English.
  • Improves the reliability of the keywords used for voice assistants, including Cortana.
  • Updates to improve security when using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
  • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
  • Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
  • Updates to improve security when using external devices (such as game controllers, printers, and web cameras) and input devices (such as a mouse, keyboard, or stylus).
  • Improves security in Microsoft Xbox and the Microsoft Store.
  • Updates for verifying usernames and passwords.
  • Updates for storing and managing files.

  • Addresses an issue that prevents you from using some voice commands in Windows Mixed Reality when the preferred Windows display language is English (Canada) or English (Australia).

Most people are still on Windows 10 version 1909 or even 1903, and those users will get KB4560960, bringing the build number to 18363.900 and 18362.900, respectively. You can manually download it here, and these are the highlights:

  • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
  • Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
  • Updates to improve security when using external devices (such as game controllers, printers, and web cameras) and input devices (such as a mouse, keyboard, or stylus).
  • Improves security in Microsoft Xbox and the Microsoft Store.
  • Updates for verifying usernames and passwords.

After installing this update on a Windows 10 device with a wireless wide area network (WWAN) LTE modem, reaching the internet might not be possible. However, the Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) in the notification area might still indicate that you are connected to the internet. We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.


If you're still on Windows 10 version 1809, you'll get KB4561608, bringing the build number to 17763.1282. You can manually download it here, and these are the highlights:

  • Updates to improve security when using Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge.
  • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
  • Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
  • Updates to improve security when using input devices (such as a mouse, keyboard, or stylus).
  • Improves security in Microsoft Xbox and the Microsoft Store.
  • Updates for verifying usernames and passwords.
  • Updates for storing and managing files.

Here's the full list of improvements and fixes:

  • Addresses an issue that prevents users from updating .msi files from a network folder.
  • Addresses an issue that causes the promotion of a server to a domain controller to fail. This occurs when the Local Security Authority Subsystem Service (LSASS) process is set as Protected Process Light (PPL).

This one also has one known issue:

After installing KB4493509, devices with some Asian language packs installed may receive the error, "0x800f0982 - PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND."
  1. Uninstall and reinstall any recently added language packs. For instructions, see Manage the input and display language settings in Windows 10.
  2. Select Check for Updates and install the April 2019 Cumulative Update. For instructions, see Update Windows 10.

Note If reinstalling the language pack does not mitigate the issue, reset your PC as follows:

  1. Go to the Settings app > Recovery.
  2. Select Get Started under the Reset this PC recovery option.
  3. Select Keep my Files.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.


Those on Windows 10 version 1803, which is only supported for Enterprise and Education SKUs, will get KB4561621, bringing the build number to 17134.1550. You can manually download it here, and these are the highlights:

  • Addresses an issue that prevents you from installing some .msi apps. This occurs when a device is managed by a Group Policy that redirects the AppData folder to a network folder.

  • Security updates to the Microsoft Scripting Engine, Internet Explorer, Windows App Platform and Frameworks, Windows Media, Windows Kernel, Microsoft Graphics Component, Windows Input and Composition, Windows Shell, the Microsoft Store, Windows Cloud Infrastructure, Windows Fundamentals, Windows Authentication, Windows Cryptography, Windows Virtualization, Windows Storage and Filesystems, Windows File Server and Clustering, Windows Hybrid Storage Services, the Windows Update Stack, and the Microsoft JET Database Engine.

There's also one known issue to be aware of:

Symptom Workaround
After installing KB4467684, the cluster service may fail to start with the error “2245 (NERR_PasswordTooShort)” if the group policy “Minimum Password Length” is configured with greater than 14 characters.

Set the domain default "Minimum Password Length" policy to less than or equal to 14 characters.

Microsoft is working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.


Finally, the original version of Windows 10, now known as version 1507, is only supported in the Long Term Servicing Branch, and those users are getting KB4561649, bringing the build number to 10240.18608. you can manually download it here, and these are the highlights:

  • Updates to improve security when using Internet Explorer.
  • Updates to improve security when Windows performs basic operations.
  • Updates to improve security when using Microsoft Office products.
  • Updates to improve security when using external devices (such as game controllers, printers, and web cameras) and input devices (such as a mouse, keyboard, or stylus).

  • Updates for verifying usernames and passwords.
  • Updates for storing and managing files.

Here are the improvements and fixes:
