In October, pre-orders started for the Surface RT tablet from Microsoft. The orders were limited to just eight countries: the U.S., Canada, China. the UK, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Australia. Today, that list of countries expands greatly for Microsoft's Windows RT tablet.
As Microsoft promised last week, Surface RT is now available for sale in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Since there are no Microsoft Store locations in any of those territories yet, many different local retailers will be selling the Surface RT in those countries. ZDNet.com reports that in Sweden, for example, the El Giganten, Siba and MediaMarkt retail stores will sell the tablet.
In terms of prices, it will vary depending on the country. In Ireland, the 32 GB version of the Surface RT sells for €479, while Sweden has a price of €532 for the same version.
There's no word when sales of the new Surface Pro tablet will expand to other countries. So far, only residents in the US and Canada can buy the Windows 8 Pro-based tablet. The 64 GB version seems to be available in some locations but the 128 GB version of the tablet should have more units in stores by Saturday.
