At the beginning of July, Microsoft started rolling out a dark theme for Microsoft To-Do on Windows 10 devices, making it fall in line with most of the company's apps. Now, it looks like other platforms will be getting similar treatment soon, as the beta version of the Android app is receiving an update that introduces the feature as well.
The dark theme, which is still in an experimental stage, is the headlining feature of this update, but there are other small improvements arriving along with it:
- [NEW] Experimental Dark Mode
- [IMPROVEMENT] Select theme color while creating or editing a list
- [FIX] Recurrence behavior
- [FIX] Crash on tablets after completing a task or changing a task title
Being an initial implementation of the feature, dark mode doesn't look quite as good as on Windows 10 just yet. As of right now, the dark theme on Android drains the app of most of its colored apps, and even elements such as item separators can be a little hard to make out. The new feature is still only available for those in the beta program, so it should receive some improvements before heading to users on the stable channel.
Microsoft To-Do has received some significant updates over the past few weeks, so if you'd like to give it a go, you can download it from the Play Store here. To get the dark theme right away, you'll need to join the beta program from the app listing.
