Microsoft will help with the marketing of the upcoming sci-fi shooter Titanfall by releasing a limited edition version of its Xbox One wireless controller that features artwork inspired by the game. The controller will be released on March 11th, the same day that Titanfall itself goes on sale for the Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC platforms, for the price of $64.99.
Microsoft's Xbox Wire website says that the Titanfall Xbox One controller was designed with the help of the game's art team at Respawn Entertainment. The artwork is based on the game's "C-101 carbine, used by the elite IMC Titan pilots of the Frontier."
Titanfall is already being hyped as one of the most anticipated games of 2014, thanks in part to the fact that Respawn Entertainment was founded by many of the team members behind the original Call of Duty games at Infinity Ward. Titanfall itself takes place in a future setting where players either take on the roles of "pilots" that operate on foot but also have the ability to run on walls. The pilots can also get into 25 foot mech-like vehicles called Titans that have a number of different weapons and abilities.
Titanfall is an online multiplayer exclusive game with matches that support up to 12 players. However, each match includes a plot and NPC characters that are supposed to make each round feel more like a single player game; Titanfall will be published by Electronic Arts. The Xbox One version of the game is supposed to incorporate the console's cloud server support such as offloading its AI and physics features along with adding dedicated servers.
