Less than six weeks ago, Microsoft increased the cost of its Surface Pro 4 tablets in the UK by up to 12%, and its Surface Books rose in price by up to £400. The increases were related to the weak pound sterling against the US dollar, following the UK's 'Brexit' referendum decision last year to leave the European Union.
Since then, Microsoft has been offering deals on its Surface devices almost non-stop, including free insurance, free Office 365 subscriptions, and discounts on the devices themselves. Last week, literally two minutes after one deal ended, it launched another promotional offer, cutting the price of lower-end Surface Book and Pro 4 models.
Now, yet another deal is available across the rest of its Surface Book and Pro 4 ranges, reducing their prices to the same level as before last month's price increases:
- Intel Core i5 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / dGPU | usually £1,849 | now £1,599 (save £250 / 14%)
- Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / dGPU | usually £1,999 | now £1,799 (save £200 / 10%)
- Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD / dGPU | usually £2,399 | now £2,249 (save £150 / 7%)
- Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD / dGPU | usually £3,049 | now £2,649 (save £400 / 13%)
- Intel Core i5 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD | usually £1,099 | now £1,079 (save £20 / 2%)
- Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD | usually £1,369 | now £1,299 (save £70 / 5%)
- Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 256GB SSD | usually £1,549 | now £1,449 (save £100 / 6%)
- Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD | usually £1,899 | now £1,799 (save £100 / 5%)
- Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD | usually £2,359 | now £2,199 (save £160 / 7%)
The small print on Microsoft's site indicates that this latest offer has been available since 12:01am on March 22:
That's wrong though - only the most affordable models were being offered with discounts on that date, as other sites also reported. The Microsoft Store UK homepage continues to refer only to the earlier offers too, with no mention of the newer discounts now available:
It's clear that this is a separate deal, then, although Microsoft appears to be applying the same small print to this one, which would mean that it's due to end on April 4.
If you're starting to lose track of all these offers on Surface devices, you're not the only one. Last week, Microsoft was offering five separate deals on its Surface Pro 4 range in the UK at the same time.
