At the Gamescom industry expo in Germany, Microsoft has been busy today discussing some of what it's got lined up for gamers in the months ahead. Among its announcements, the company revealed plans to offer DVR functionality on its Xbox One and said that backwards compatibility for Xbox 360 games would launch for the newer console in November.
Microsoft also announced a new accessory for the Xbox One: a Chatpad keyboard. This isn't the first Chatpad from the company - it previously offered a version for the Xbox 360 - but this is the first version of the peripheral designed for the Xbox One.
Like its predecessor, the new Chatpad clips on to the bottom of the Xbox One's controller. The keys are backlit and include audio controls for your headset, which can connect directly to Microsoft's latest controller via its integrated 3.5mm audio jack. A mono headset with built-in microphone is also included in the Chatpad retail pack.
Like the controller, the keypad is also compatible with Windows 10. It will no doubt come in handy when the new Xbox One user experience "powered by Windows 10" rolls out in November.
You can pre-order the Chatpad now for $34.99, with delivery scheduled for October 27. Incidentally, that's the same day on which Halo 5: Guardians is released - and if you're a fan of the gaming series, make sure you check out the stunning new Halo-themed Xbox One unveiled today.
