Microsoft is set to start selling its massive 85-inch Surface Hub 2S, the company announced today. The larger variant of the collaboration PC was initially announced back in April 2019, and there haven't been many details about it since. You'll be able to pre-order it starting today from the regular partner sales channels, and they'll start shipping in January.
That's not all of the Surface Hub news though. Microsoft announced that the 2020 Update for Windows 10 Team, the OS that runs on Surface Hubs, is coming in October. It includes a few key new features, such as the new Chromium-based Edge browser, and support for Single Sign-On and Conditional Access on Azure AD joined devices. You can also now use Microsoft Authenticator to sign in, or you can use a FIDO2 security key.
If Windows 10 Team isn't for you, you can now configure your Surface Hub to run Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise, something that users can now do free of charge. This might be useful in an age when so many people are working from home, and fewer people are gathering in a room to collaborate.
Sadly, there is still no news on the Surface Hub 2X, which was announced in 2018 as the version of the Surface Hub 2 that was coming in 2020. It was reported to be delayed, and possibly even canceled back in January, and then in February, there were some leaks that showed Microsoft was planning to bring some of its features to the Surface Hub 2S. Of course, there's been no word on when those features are arriving.
