In March, Microsoft released its upgraded Surface Book with Performance Base in thirteen markets, and more recently, launched its new Surface Pro tablet too. With these devices now available, the company has been offering deep discounts on its older Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, which originally went on sale in late 2015.
In the UK, Microsoft slashed up to 24% off the Surface Pro 4 in mid-May. It also cut up to £665 off the original Surface Book, although it discontinued the offer of a free pair of Bowers & Wilkins headphones worth £119.99 with that device. The discounts on the Book and Pro 4 were supposed to end on June 30, but Microsoft extended them until July 31. Now, the company has quietly extended those deals again.
The Microsoft Store has already run out of stock of some Surface Pro 4 models - these are the only ones still available:
Model | Regular price | Current price | Savings |
Intel Core m3 (No Pen) 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD |
£749 | £635 | £114 (15%) |
Intel Core i5 4GB RAM / 128GB SSD |
£949 | £760 | £189 (20%) |
Intel Core i7 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD |
£1,369 | £1,099 | £270 (20%) |
Intel Core i7 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD |
£1,899 | £1,529 | £370 (19%) |
Intel Core i7 16GB RAM / 1TB SSD |
£2,359 | £1,869 | £490 (21%) |
All three Surface Books with Core i7 processors are out of stock too. That leaves these two models as the only options now available on the UK store:
Model | Regular price | Current price | Savings |
Intel Core i5 8GB RAM / 128GB SSD |
£1,449 | £1,299 | £150 (10%) |
Intel Core i5 8GB RAM / 256GB SSD / dGPU |
£1,849 | £1,449 | £400 (22%) |
The store listing for the Surface Pro 4 now states that the discounts are due to end on August 30. The Surface Book page leaves the deals open-ended, stating that this is a "limited-time offer, while supplies last". Indeed, given that these devices have been replaced by newer models, it seems unlikely that they'll ever return to full price.
