Last week, Microsoft's newest entry-level Windows Phone, the Lumia 530, fell to its most affordable price ever in the UK, where it can now be purchased for £49.95 off-contract, or just £29.95 on a pay-as-you-go upgrade. But the Brits aren't the only ones getting some Lumia love, as the handset can now be snapped up at an astonishingly low price over in Australia too.
From today until November 4, Woolworths will be selling the Lumia 530 at half price on Telstra - that means you can get the brand new Windows Phone for just $39.50 AUD (£22 GBP / $35 USD / €27 EUR), and Woolworths is sweetening the deal further by throwing in an extra cover free of charge, in bright orange.
For just under forty Aussie bucks, you'll get:
- 4-inch LCD with FWVGA (854x480px) display
- Quad-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200
- 512MB RAM
- 4GB onboard storage (plus microSD support up to 128GB)
- 5MP rear camera (fixed focus, no flash)
- No front-facing camera
- 1430mAh battery
- 119.7 x 62.3 x 11.7mm, 129g
Pretty decent specs for that price. The vice president of Alcatel recently said that the future success of Windows Phone lies at the lower end of the market, and with more and more high quality entry-level Windows devices being launched, it looks like budget-conscious consumers will be the big winners here.
