Microsoft's Lumia 640 certainly impressed us when we reviewed it last May - indeed, it's a blend of impressive performance, a commendable display, decent camera and low price made it one of our favorite devices of the year.
The Lumia 640 is now even more affordable in the UK, as Amazon has dropped the price of the Windows Phone 8.1 handset to £99.99 SIM-free, albeit only on the version sold with an orange cover. That said, the 640's rear covers are replaceable, so if the orange isn't to your tastes, you can either purchase an alternative cover separately, or simply buy the handset in a different colour; for example, Amazon is selling the black version for £115.71.
That's still cheaper than the Microsoft Store, where the Lumia 640 is priced at £129.99 in both colours, and still a bit less than other retailers such as Carphone Warehouse (£119.99) and Expansys (£123.99).
Microsoft has confirmed that the Lumia 640 will be among the first handsets to be upgraded to Windows 10 Mobile... when it eventually rolls out.
