Microsoft's Surface Pro 3 has received a chunky price cut in India, two months after its launch there.
In January, Microsoft announced availability of its latest high-end tablet, the Surface Pro 4, in India, but curiously, it also revealed that it would be launching a single model from the Surface Pro 3 range there at the same time - 20 months after the Pro 3 was first unveiled.
With a 4th-generation Intel Core i3 processor (rather than the new 6th-gen 'Skylake' Intel Core chips in the Pro 4), along with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, the Pro 3 went on sale in India priced at Rs.73,990 INR (around $1,100 USD) - but two months on, its price has now been slashed by a fifth.
Amazon India - to which buyers will be redirected if they try to purchase the Pro 3 from the Microsoft Store - has cut 20% off the tablet, reducing its price by Rs.15,000 to Rs.58,990 (roughly $880).
That brings it more or less in line with the original price - $899 - of the same Surface Pro 3 model in the United States, although given that the device is now almost two years old, its US price has since fallen to just $599.
