Microsoft has just kicked off a packed Free Play Days event for Xbox players. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Game Pass Core (formerly Xbox Live Gold) subscribers now have access to three games as part of the weekend promotion, which brings Battlefield 2042, Autonauts, and Akka Arrh.
The Mojang-developed block-based sensation Minecraft is also joining in on the free event action as Minecraft Live draws nearer. However, this doesn't require a Game Pass subscription. Any Xbox player can jump into the sandbox game from now through October 15 for free.
In the regular free event pile, Battlefield 2042 comes touting its latest season of content: Dark Creations. This adds an Operation Locker-style close quarters map, a flying quad bike, and more to the modern shooter. Head here to read our impressions of the new map and weapons.
Meanwhile, Autonauts is a sandbox colony builder where you program bots to automate the usual tasks like agriculture and industry. Lastly, Akka Arrh is a bullet hell shoot 'em up with psychedelic visuals, offering a retro arcade shooter experience where you go for high scores.
All three Free Play Days titles available this weekend, plus the separate Minecraft promotion, have sales attached to them too. This is for anyone looking to continue their playthroughs following the free weekends on the cheap:
- Minecraft - $15.99 (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
- Battlefield 2042 Elite Edition - $34.99 (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
- Autonauts - $3.99 (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
- Akka Arrh - $6.24 (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S)
The second Free Play Days event of the month will finish the current run on Sunday, October 15 at 11:59pm PT. Aside from Minecraft, keep in mind that only Xbox Game Pass Core and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have access to the games of this promotion.
