One of the many complaints against Windows Phone has been the general lack of premium apps. It has been a upward struggle for Microsoft but they are slowly moving in the right direction. The store now has over 120.000 apps and Microsoft is committed to adding new "top apps" to the platform. Earlier Microsoft announced Pandora as a great new addition to the Windows Phone Store and it even comes with a 1-year free subscription for all users.
Microsoft has also announced other apps and some top tier games that will be coming to the platform. Among these is the brand new Angry Birds Star Wars edition that is launching today. Temple Run and Asphalt 7 will also be joining the platform, as well as Cut the Rope and Where's my Water/Perry games.
In addition to this, Microsoft has also refreshed the Facebook and Twitter apps on Windows Phone. The new Facebook app will be able to take advantage of the "live apps" feature and show you info on the lock screen. The new Twitter app will also have better notifications and both apps will have speed and performance improvements across the board.
Disappointingly, there was no mention of the rumored Instagram app for Windows Phone, but that may still be coming in the future. Microsoft has stated before that 47 of the top 50 apps on other platforms will also be available on Windows Phone 8.
So what do you folks think? Are Microsoft's efforts enough, or is the platform still in need of better apps? Sound off in the comments
