Rumors of a new entry to the Moto X line have been doing the rounds since November last year. We have seen leaks and renders of the device for quite some time. Now, a new leak gives us a better idea of the specs and the design for the upcoming device.
A user named Jerry Yin has shared multiple photos of what seems like a prototype of the device, which includes the specs of the device. Up front, we're met with the "MOTOROLA CONFIDENTIAL PROPERTY. NOT FOR SALE" message just below the "Moto" logo, and a fingerprint sensor. Moto X 2017, whose model number is XT1801, has dual rear cameras and a front-facing flash as far as cameras are concerned. The rear camera has a visible bump, reminiscent of the Moto Z but, interestingly, it has no pins for mods.
The source of the leak also shared an image of the device's bootloader screen, which reveals the phone's specs. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 635, 3 GB of RAM, and 32 GB internal storage. As such, the 2017 model slotsinto the mid-range category, a downgrade from its premium tag back in 2015. This makes sense, since Moto Z has taken its place as the flagship anchor for Lenovo, a probable reason for the lack of mod pins. While Lenovo is still tight-lipped about the device, the X could well be one of six phones expected to release under the Motorola branding this year.
