Earlier this month, Motorola announced the Moto Z3 Play, the latest iteration in its series of premium mid-range smartphones, which our own Rich Woods has already had the opportunity to get his hands on, but the company is not done with its Z line for this year.
As it has done in previous years, the company is set to announce its true flagship later in the summer. Whereas Motorola skipped out on a regular Moto Z2 last year and opted to only release the Z2 Force, it's expected to bring the series back for 2018, with the possibility of a Z3 Force still being up in the air, as we discovered in January thanks to a massive leak featuring almost all of its phones planned for this year.
Based on that same leak, we expect the device to bear a 6-inch Full HD+ display with curved edges, dual cameras, and of course, support for Moto Mods, with backward compatibility for previous generations also being expected. Being a 2018 flagship phone, it's likely that it will carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 as well.
With so much of the company's plans already being known, it will be hard for it to pull any surprises at the event, but the unique characteristics of its Moto Z devices should make the event interesting nonetheless, at least for fans of the ecosystem of slap-on mods Motorola continues to foster.
