Motorola announced Tuesday that they will acquire BenQ Mobile's research and development center in Denmark. Motorola plans to integrate the facility mobile device business and turn it into a product development center.
No financial terms of the deal were disclosed. However, 250 BenQ employees at the facility will now work for Motorola. The acquisition should be final in June of 2006.
" BenQ Mobile said the sale is part of its restructuring strategy, which consists the consolidation of major development sites. BenQ Mobile, with headquarters in Munich, is one of three business divisions of BenQ Corp. of Taiwan.
Shares of Motorola climbed 38 cents to $21.54 in afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange. The stock has traded in a 52-week range from $15.24 to $24.99."
