Thanks SouL2kEEp for the heads up in BPN. In an almost amusing way MSN Hotmail have placed a note, a reminder if you will, to members that MSN Hotmail will be discontinuing the Reminders feature. It would appear that MSN Hotmail are stepping up member benefits by continuing to remove the free services. Instead of doing it all in one go Microsoft have chosen a more silent route at removing one or more services at a time.
This follows the push to make members sign-up for more storage space (which appears to be the driving force behind most sign-ups) but at the same time the paid services still appears to attract a lot of spam (where this Neowin admin has his Junk mail filter set to exclusive) and its virus filters have come under attack recently for letting certain email worms through despite being "protected" by McAfee which doesn't make the Hotmail service anymore attractive than another free service like Yahoo who can still boast a free service and double the free storage space.
One can argue that Yahoo will ultimately go the same route as microsoft did, but for now at least 4mb storage and less spam sounds alot better than 2mb, possible virus infection and ever decreasing services.
