MSNBC to become NBC once again?

According to reports from news.com today, Microsoft is considering pulling out of a partnership on MSNBC.

Microsoft and NBC, joint owners of the network are currently in "advanced discussions" about the sale of Microsoft's stake in NBC. If such a sale takes place it will mean that NBC would resume total control of the news company and leaving Microsoft with several rights for using NBCs online news content.

Late last year Microsoft sold the online publication, Slate to the Washington post. Like the NBC partnership, Microsoft's investment in both providers have not seen good returns.

Microsoft have not responded to requests for comment.
