Microsoft's approach to promoting Windows Phone in TV commercials has mostly centered on filming celebrities using them. Stars like actress Jessica Alba, pop music artist Gwen Stefani, actor-comedian Andy Samberg and football player Cam Newton, among others, have all signed up to push Windows Phone-based devices to the masses.
The latest celebrity to join the Windows Phone commercial lineup is NBA basketball player Grant Hill. The 40 year old first gained fame in his college days playing for Duke University and has since played for the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and Phoenix Suns while also being named as an NBA All-Star seven times. He recently started playing for the Los Angeles Clippers.
The TV ad, as posted on YouTube, shows Hill training away from his wife, R&B singer Tamia Hill, and their two kids. The Hill family stay in touch via the Nokia Lumia 920 in the commercial, thanks in part to uploading pictures to their SkyDrive account, along with using the Lumia 920's Blink photo app to take better action shots of the kids.
With the launch of new and cheaper Nokia Lumia models on the horizon, not to mention the rumors of the Verizon exclusive Nokia Lumia 928 in April, it's likely this is not the last Windows Phone TV commercial we will see on our screens.
