Just a quick note to let everyone that Steven Parker (Neobond), Marcel Klum (Redmak) and myself will be attending CES this year.
We have a pretty tight schedule (mainly filled with cocktail parties) and we shall be attending a Microsoft powered Windows Vista labs pre-CES. We're looking to keep an eye out for any companies that are pushing interesting and innovative products for 2007.
Like WinHEC (which we'll be covering again this year) we have setup a blog spot over at https://www.neowin.net/events so keep an eye on this for updated posts.
Microsoft's contribution this year you ask? Apart from feeding Vista to all those exhibiting at CES the company is likely to futher unveil Windows Mobile related software like Windows Live anywhere for Xbox Live and Windows Live Messenger Mobile. On the Windows track, Microsoft will obviously push Vista along with OEMs and partners. One thing that isn't clear at this stage is an advert Microsoft has placed in a CES mag found here.
It reads:
"All together Now. Announcing a new way to share, protect, and store what matters most.January 2007"
Many have assumed this is the LiveDrive from Microsoft, a rumoured online initiative to store data with the software company. I agree with Todd Bishop that this could be the rumoured Windows Home Server (quattro). If true then it surely won't be available immediately but Microsoft can take the CES opportunity to outline the product and expected hardware for home users.
No matter what happens we'll keep you fully up to date so keep us bookmarked for January 6th as that is when we will begin
