Neowin Focus for week ending February 5th

Its that time of the week where its probably a good idea to summarize whats been going on for the past week here on Neowin. Being Sunday and all, theres not too much on the news front but there has been some interesting announcements this past week. So without further hesitation here we go!

This week Neowin announced its first annual meet named NeowINDEX 2006 Europe, the name contains INDEX which is capatilized and focuses on us all getting on the same page to discuss Neowin past, present and future. The event takes place in Amsterdam on Saturday 1st of April with an introduction evening on Friday 31st in Haarlem, just outside Amsterdam.

In news, this week saw companies panicking over the virus MyWife or Win32/Mywife.E@mm, set to activate on February 3rd. Another variant Nyxem.E was also set to cause widespread chaos on Feb. 3rd but was later reported to have little effect, meaning people are patching up their systems.Give yourselves a well deserved pat on the back!

Microsoft also released Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Public Preview. The release, carrying build number 5296 includes tabbed browsing, page zoom, tab groups, RSS support and improved printing support. It contains an array of features demanded by customers since the release of IE6 back with Windows XP in 2001. Microsoft finally delivered after years of rumours and retracted statements surrounding IE having a future at all!

Last but not least, Neowin is looking for your help. We are looking to bring on an experienced HTML/CSS/PHP/GRAPHICS all rounder so that we can complete the long awaited design update here on Neowin. Full details and a screenshot preview of our current build is available here.

All staff here are volunteers and have a limited schedule which is making it difficult to complete much needed updates here on Neowin. Do you have the skills and the time to help? If so I'll look forward to hearing from you.

If you didn't think its not worth your effort to help, allow me to share last months statistics.
