Resellers of AMD processors have now been notified of the switch to plastic packaging we reported several weeks ago.
This is what AMD told its resellers: "The first new AMD Athlon XP PIB kits are now available. Each box contains one AMD Athlon XP processor, an installation guide including AMD's warranty information and an approved heat-sink. Currently available models are: 1900+, 1800+ and 1700+".
But the plastic packaging won't displace the old packaging overnight. There are still quantities of the old stuff in the channel.
Now the only thing AMD needs to do is to change the colour of its processors to green. As we reported recently, it hopes to do that by the end of the year. And the new see through packaging explains that decision, thinking about it.
