Thanks Bink for this. On Monday WindowsXP.nu reported that a new release of .NET beta was to be expected, this was true.
Apparently this build was unstable and the release was withdrawn. This info reached WindowsXP.nu indirectly from Windows Product Manager himself: John Gray.
In case you are wondering what the apple pie .NET Server is.. It's many things. It was originally Windows 2002 Server (family) it still is as far as version numbers go but now they are calling it .NET
Built on Windows 2000, Windows .NET Server includes all the basic functionalities customers expect from a Windows Server operating system, such as dependability, security, and scalability. In addition, Microsoft has improved and extended the Windows Server product family to enable your business to experience full-blown .NET functionality.
