It's not exactly a shock to learn that Epic Games and Microsoft will be releasing a new title in its Gears of War series. The third person sci-fi shooter games have become one of the biggest Xbox 360 exclusive game franchises; indeed, it's perhaps only behind Microsoft's own Halo series in popularity and sales.
Today, Game Informer's web site has revealed that the cover story for its upcoming next print edition will talk about that next Gears of War game. In an interesting twist, the magazine's cover image has been darkened on GameInfomer's website as a teaser to the full announcement. That is expected to happen on Monday as part of Microsoft's pre-E3 2012 press conference.
Microsoft and Epic apparently were working on a spin-off of Gears of War, titled Gears of War: Exile, that was rumored to be a Kinect-exclusive game. While Epic Games' lead designer, Cliff Bleszinski, did in fact confirm a few months ago that there was a game in development for a while with that title, he also confirmed that it was later cancelled.
NeoGamr will be front and center at Microsoft's E3 2012 press conference in Los Angeles on Monday to bring you all the information from that event.
