Microsoft first announced plans to release Halo 4 at E3 2011 last June with a pretty spectacular teaser trailer. Since then the company has been silent about its plans for the next game in its best selling first person shooter series for the Xbox 360 console. Today at Halo Fest, part of the PAX Prime event in Seattle, the company held a panel where they showed off a new trailer that contained concept artwork from Halo 4 and revealed more info about the game that's due out in late 2012.
As reported by VG247.com, the panel discussion with members of Microsoft's 343 Industries development team revealed that Halo 4 is the first of a planned new trilogy of Halo games that will have the overall title of The Reclaimer Trilogy. Master Chief and his AI companion Cortana will of course return, but according to Halo 4's executive producer Kiki Wolfkill, “There’s certainly a unique relationship between Chief and Cortana that hasn’t been seen in previous games." We will also get more into what makes Master Chief tick in the new trilogy.
The panel also strongly hinted that the Forge level editor will return for Halo 4. It also unfortunately denied that a Halo 4 multiplayer invite was going to be put into Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary. That game, a graphical remake of the original 2001 Halo title with Xbox Live multiplayer support, will be released for the Xbox 360 console in November.
