Capcom held a Monster Hunter Rise digital event today, revealing more details of the upcoming Nintendo Switch title. The event started off with a new trailer for the game, which showcased some of the features we already knew of, as well as some new monsters and gameplay elements.
Among the news is a brand-new monster for the series, called Goss Harag, which lives in icy regions and uses an ice blade to attack. The trailer also showed off the flagship monster in the game, Magnamalo, a monster covered in an armor-like shell that uses its tail and a type of gas to attack. Returning monsters such as the Lagombi, Tigrex, and many others were also shown off.
In terms of mechanics, Capcom showed off a new capability, Wyvern Riding. Using the new Wirebug item, players can wear down some enemy monsters and take control of them temporarily. Controlled monsters can be used to attack other monsters, for traversal, or driven into walls for extra damage. Capcom has shared a video guide showcasing the Wyvern Riding feature.
If you want to give the game a whirl before buying it, Capcom also announced the release of a limited time demo, which will be available at 12:00AM Pacific Time today. The demo will feature four quests and all 14 types of weapons, and can be played solo or through local or online multiplayer. The demo will be available until February 1, at 12:00AM Pacific Time.
Monster Hunter Rise is slated for release on the Nintendo Switch on March 26. Officially, that's the only platform it's coming to, but a Capcom leak late last year suggested that it's planned for a PC release sometime later.
