Microsoft today rolled out another Office Insider build for Android, bringing the version number to 16.0.7127.1002.
Here's what's new:
Word
- Tables built for touch: No more cut and paste! Drag tables to move them, and let text wrap around
- Save files on SD cards: With Android 5.0 and newer versions, save files anywhere on an SD card.
- Discover more Office apps: Word now makes it easy for you to discover and quickly install all the Office apps available for your Android phone and tablet.
Excel
- Open more files: Now you can open files that contain ActiveX controls.
- Save files on SD cards: With Android 5.0 and newer versions, save files anywhere on an SD card.
- Discover more Office apps: Excel now makes it easy for you to discover and quickly install all the Office apps available for your Android phone and tablet.
PPT
- Save files on SD cards: With Android 5.0 and newer versions, save files anywhere on an SD card.
- Discover more Office apps: PowerPoint now makes it easy for you to discover and quickly install all the Office apps available for your Android phone and tablet.
Clearly, the main feature is the ability to save files to an SD card, which will surely be handy for users, especially when transferring documents. It's interesting to see ActiveX support added to Excel, considering that it was removed from Microsoft Edge when Windows 10 came around.
Microsoft released the last update for Office for Android just over a week ago; however, the last Insider build was about three weeks ago on June 14. From what we've seen so far, you can expect this build to show up to Production in about two weeks.
