Some of us here at Neowin love a good Pokémon game and Pokémon Black and White 2 is an interesting game to say the least. The game is this first official sequel that Gamefreak has ever made and we've just discovered a new trailer from Nintendo Direct which outlines some of the differences between the originals and the sequels.
We know that the game takes place in the region of Unova - two years after the original Black and White and that the player starts his or hers adventures in Hiougi City. There’s also a brand new water-type Pokémon gym which means the game is likely to have a few new gym leaders. Aside from that there is a large amount of new events and trainers to face which should make this game seem just as refreshing as older games.
Older Pokémon from the past generations and regions will be made available as the player progresses – which is good because the main problem with the original Black and White was the fact that players felt forced into using new Pokémon rather than their old favorites. There was only a limited number of older Pokémon in the original Black and White and there was huge emphasis on transferring older Pokémon from older games but that was often time-consuming and annoying – so it is great to know Gamefreak has worked out the kinks of the last game to make a revamped sequel.
The trailer for the game is below:
Obviously some translations will be different when the release is upon the western world in the autumn, but for now, Pokémon Black and White 2 for the Nintendo DS is expected to hit Japanese games retailers on the 23rd of June.
