As reported by AppleInsider, the next generation of iPhone and iPod Touch, rumored to be released in June or July, roughly the same date as the iPhone firmware 3.0 releases, will include many new enhancements over previous iPhones.
The next generation iPhone and iPod Touch are rumored to support wireless 802.11n, previously only supports 5Ghz 802.11a and 2.4 802.11b/g networks. The upgrade will allow low-power 802.11n networks to be utilized for speed, where all MacBook's currently support 802.11n.
The next generation iPhone and iPod Touch are also rumored to support FM radio signals, to both receive and transmit capabilities. This nice addition to the next generation models will allow consumers to listen to local radio stations directly from their devices and transmit signals to their car radio through the speakers.
No mention if the FM transmitter will be an internal or external device, but the nice addition to the next gen device will hopefully be an internal addition without the need to purchase addition hardware.
