Nintendo announces more indie games coming to Switch, including Torchlight III

After it announced the event yesterday, Nintendo held its Indie World presentation today, and it introduced a ton of titles making their way to the Nintendo Switch. Some of them are coming over from other platforms, while others are timed exclusives for the Switch.

As usual, the company announced a few games that are available today, and this time around there are six of them. One of them is Spiritfarer, a management game that sees the player help the spirits of the dead go into the afterlife. Players have to accomplish certain requests made by other characters in order to help them transition to the afterlife. You can check out the latest trailer here.

Another title arriving today is Takeshi & Hiroshi, a game where the main player controls Takeshi, the older brother in a pair of siblings, with the goal of crafting a game for his little brother Hiroshi to play, with the player making changes to the level on the fly. The game uses a combination of puppet animation for the real world characters and 2D graphics for the game the little brother plays. You can find a trailer for the iOS version here.

Another game releasing today is Raji: An Ancient Epic, an action adventure game set in ancient India where the player needs to take control of divine weapons to defeat an evil lord who intends to conquer the world. The game was developed by an Indian studio, Nodding Heads Games, and takes inspiration from Hindu and Balinese mythology. You can watch the trailer below.

Next up is A Short Hike, an exploration game where the player controls a bird making its way up a mountain, while discovering hidden treasures and meeting other hikers. The game uses a cel-shaded art style combined with an apparent low resolution that makes it somewhat reminiscent of the Zelda games on the Nintendo DS. You can find the most recent trailer from a year ago here.

If puzzle games are more your thing, Manifold Garden is also available today. It's a physics-based puzzle game that requires players to change their perspective as they move through the world. You can find the trailer here.

The last game available today is Evergate, a 2D puzzle platformer set in the afterlife where the player controls a spirit named Ki. Players need to use the Soulflame ability to help them traverse the world and discover memories of another soul. You can watch the trailer for it below.

Looking further ahead, Nintendo announced a few more games making their way to the Nintendo Switch in the coming months, extending into next year. Perhaps the most notable additions are the Subnautica franchise and Torchlight III. The latter is coming in the fall of this year, and it's a dungeon crawler similar to games like Diablo. Players need to explore dungeons, defeat enemies, and collect loot, which can be used to upgrade gear and in turn move forward to more difficult dungeons. The game is currently in early access on Steam. Here's the trailer:

As for Subnautica, it's a pair of survival action-adventure games where players can explore a large underwater world, finding resources and discovering secrets. The original game, also called Subnautica, was released in 2018 for PC and other consoles. Subnautica: Below Zero is a sequel, which is currently in development and available in early access on Steam. Both games will come to the Switch in 2021. Here's the announcement trailer:

Many more games were announced during the event, so here's a list of the remainder of the games shown off today along with their release dates and trailers:

Finally, the presentation also served to announce that the viral game Untitled Goose Game is getting a free multiplayer update on September 23, making it possible for two players to play through the adventure together. The game is also getting a physical release, at least on the Switch.

If you'd rather watch the full presentation, you can do so here.
