Nintendo Australia today announced that its ground breaking new console, NINTENDO GAMECUBE, will launch on 17 May at a suggested retail price of $329.

"We are committed to making NINTENDO GAMECUBE a success in Australia. On May 17 we will offer consumers the only dedicated video games console available, with an outstanding software line up both at launch and throughout 2002.

"Consumers have already reserved and pre-paid a deposit for thousands of NINTENDO GAMECUBE's nationally. Based on existing reserved copies and given we are three weeks until our launch and pre-orders rise exponentially, we expect pre-orders of 10,000 or more by May 17," he said.
