The Fire Emblem series is not Nintendo's most popular franchise, but it's developed a following in both western and Japanese markets over the years. So far, the company's latest console had only been graced with the spin-off game Fire Emblem Warriors, but that's set to change next year.
During its Nintendo Direct at E3, the company took the wraps off Fire Emblem: Three Houses, the first game in the main Fire Emblem series to land on the Switch. Three Houses takes place in Fódlan, a land dominated by the church who has great control over its people.
The game features the already known strategy and RPG mechanics from previous entries, but there will be some new twists, with troop formations appearing to back up individual characters during attacks.
Not much more is known about the game, but the story seems to be related to the goddess who watches over Fódlan and the crests she left behind around the world, which are seemingly necessary to maintain order.
The game doesn't have a specific release date yet, but it's planned for a release in the spring of 2019.
