While pricing for the Microsoft Xbox and the Sony PS2 remains the same in the US, both companies have slashed the price for their respective consoles in Europe. Purchasing an Xbox will now set you back 99.99 pounds (around $182US) in the UK, while buying a PS2 will cost you 104.99 pounds (around $191US.) The PS2 price change went into effect immediately with the Xbox price remaining at 139.99 pounds until August 27.
And what of the Nintendo GameCube? Well, Nintendo's European PR department responded to the recent pricing feud between Microsoft and Sony by stating it will not change the price of the GameCube for the 2004 holiday season.
