Nokia said last week that it was exploring options for licensing its brand to other companies, to be used on third-party devices. Under the terms of its agreement with Microsoft - which bought its devices and services business earlier this year - Nokia will be permitted to license its brand for use on smartphones from Q4 2016, but it can already do so for "other devices" right now.
Predictably, that's led to much speculation over when we might see the Nokia brand return on new products, and just what those products might be. It looks like we may not have long to wait.
A rather mysterious tweet popped up on Nokia's Twitter account today, in which the company says "it's up to something", below tomorrow's date, November 18. Alongside this, there's an image of a black box with rounded corners, which is featureless aside from the Nokia logo on top.
No other clues are given as to just what Nokia might be up to exactly, but this is just the latest in a series of tweets from the company in which it has hinted at some big new plans in the works.
We'll find out what Nokia has got lined up tomorrow, when the company reveals more on its future plans.
What do you think the black box might be? A TV set-top box? A wireless streaming device? Or something else entirely? Let us know your thoughts below!
