In July, Nokia launched a pink version of its Lumia 900 smartphone. This news wasn't all that surprising; Nokia has already released the Windows Phone-based device in three other colors (basic black, cyan and white). What is unusual about the pink version is the marketing push that Nokia has launched to promote the phone to what it thinks is its target base: women.
The smartphone company is on a mini-tour of three US cities where they are launching one-day salons. These events give women some manicures while also giving them some time to check out the Lumia 900. A post on Yahoo shows that the salon was held in the Dallas area last week and will be held in Denver today and in Los Angeles on August 7th.
The free manicures also come with some custom nail art that uses what Nokia is calling its "limited edition Nokia Lumia Pink nail polish by Duality Cosmetics." Yes, you can get a nail polish named after a smartphone.
It's interesting to see that Nokia is still trying to get people to try out the Lumia 900, even though the device itself will soon be supplanted by Nokia's Windows Phone 8 devices later this fall.
