The next update to Norton Anti-Virus 2003 has begun external beta testing this week. Beta testers are slowly recieving their copies of NAV2004. And from the various options displayed in our screenshots it looks as though Symantec have noted that adware and spyware do pose as a threat to computer users. Additional threats such as Dialer.exe programs, remote access tools and joke programs have also been identified and combated by NAV2004.
Thanks to JnCoKiLLa we've managed to take a sneak peek at Symantecs up and coming NAV2004. The most obvious changes are noted above but currently there is no support for MSN Messenger 6. Maybe Symantec will keep up to date and update it's client during the beta phase to ammend this.
Interestingly for all, Symantec are adding "Product Activation" to NAV2004. Some might say too little too late but it seems one of the top anti-virus companies is following in the path of Microsoft. Expect a lot of software to follow this step from now on.
Enjoy the NAV2004 screenshots and don't expect the interface to change too much from now and when it's released later this year.
