A significant update is now rolling out for the Office 2016 for Mac Preview, bringing new features in addition to bug fixes and a performance boost.
Microsoft has posted a detailed changelog of the April update which is being seeded for the Office for Mac Preview that was launched last month. Out of all the apps which were released, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook are the ones that have been updated in the latest patch.
The new features introduced for each of the apps are as follows:
Outlook:
- "Propose New Time" feature that allows attendees to suggest alternate timings for meetings
Word:
- New Macro recording feature
- New search feature for online document templates
- Proofing tools: new "custom dictionary" and "exclude dictionary" support
- New user information settings in program preferences
- Improved keyboard shortcuts: support for the most popular Windows Word keyboard shortcuts
- Accessibility feature: improved support for VoiceOver
Excel:
- New Analysis ToolPak
- New "Solver" feature
- Accessibility feature: improved support for VoiceOver
PowerPoint hasn't received any new feature but includes improved support for VoiceOver just as Word and Excel. Additionally, each application has received fixes for known bugs, and performance boosts.
