OnePlus has only been around for a few years but has managed to grow its brand and maximize its impact through word of mouth. The handsets aren't as cheap as they used to be, increasing in price year after year, but still offer great value that manages to undercut the competition. As we head into the latter part of the year, many expect the firm to release the OnePlus 6T but what could be surprising about the launch is that a wireless carrier in the United States might be attached.
According to CNET, T-Mobile will be the sole carrier in the U.S. to offer the OnePlus 6T, when it makes its debut in October. The handset will be a special model, built specifically for the wireless carrier, offering support for its Extended Range LTE. Although pricing hasn't been confirmed, it could land on the Magenta carrier priced at $550.
If this partnership does come to fruition, it will be a huge step for OnePlus. As of now, the handset is still undergoing testing, waiting to get certification for use on T-Mobile's network. If there is a problem that arises, the launch could be delayed or scrapped, putting OnePlus' ambitions of launching on a U.S. carrier on hold. The company is also preparing to launch a 5G smartphone sometime in 2019.
If OnePlus is able to break into the U.S. market, it will be a landmark moment for the firm, as it will have succeeded, where many larger companies have previously failed.
