Today, OnePlus announced its fall flagship smartphone, the 8T. As it tends to go with OnePlus devices, there aren't a lot of surprises. Pretty much everything has either been leaked, or it's been confirmed by OnePlus, such as the 65W charging called Warp Charge 65. With 65W and the device's 4500mAh twin battery, the company says that you can get a full charge within just 39 minutes, and the charger has 12 thermal monitors to make sure things are moving along safely.
You do have to use OnePlus's charger to get that speed, and you can get up to 27W, which is still pretty good, with a different one. Also, the Warp Charge 65 charger can charge other devices up to 45W, meaning that you should be able to use it to charge a laptop.
The other big thing that we knew about is the 120Hz Fluid AMOLED display, which has a 2400x1080 resolution and 6.55-inch size for a 402ppi pixel density. This is similar to what we saw from last year's OnePlus 7T, which got the 90Hz refresh rate that we had first seen on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Now, the 8T is getting the 120Hz refresh rate first seen on the OnePlus 8 Pro. Obviously, this all makes for smoother motion and animations.
As for performance, the OnePlus 8T has a Snapdragon 865, up to 12GB RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Typically, OnePlus uses Qualcomm's second-half chipset, which would be the Snapdragon 865+, but presumably, it didn't use that because there's no OnePlus 8T Pro. There's no reason to have the chipset overshine the one in the OnePlus 8 Pro, which the company says was built to be future-proofed.
And then, of course, is the camera. The OnePlus 8T has a quad-camera system, which sits in a new rectangular camera housing, similar to what we're already seeing from Samsung, Huawei, Apple, and Google. The main sensor is 48MP with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS. The ultra-wide is even wider at 123 degrees, and it comes in with a 16MP resolution. The other two sensors are a 5MP macro camera and a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, it comes with a 16MP front camera.
The OnePlus 8T comes in Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver. In Europe, it's 599 Euros for 8GB + 128GB and 699 Euros for 12GB + 256GB, and in North America, it's $749 for 12GB + 256GB. You can buy one starting on October 23.
