Reports and rumors regarding a potential OnePlus watch have been around since at least 2016, and while we have yet to see them materialize, CEO Pete Lau confirmed last month that it would be launched at some point in 2021. Now, it looks like the company will make its debut in wrist-worn wearables with a fitness band, simply called the OnePlus Band.
The information comes via leaker Ishan Agarwal on Twitter, who mentions the OnePlus Band is set to launch in India on January 11, precisely one week from today. According to the tweet, it will feature 24/7 heart rate and SpO2 monitoring, sleep tracking, and 13 exercise modes. It will also have a 1.1-inch AMOLED display with touch support, IP68 water and dust resistance, and 14-day battery life.
Of course, previous reports have hinted towards a more typical smartwatch, and OnePlus' sister company OPPO launched a smartwatch in 2020, so it's possible something like that is still coming. If you don't care as much about the "smart" side of things, though, the OnePlus Band may be all you need.
Since the tweet mentions a release in just one week, we won't have long to wait to know if it's true. The OnePlus Band is said to cost ₹2,499 (roughly $34.21). There's no mention that the fitness band will launch outside of India at the same time, however.
