OnePlus is starting ramp up the excitement for its upcoming OnePlus 7T smartphones. After announcing the date for the reveal event yesterday, the company has flat out revealed the rear panel design of the OnePlus 7T on its community forums - an unprecedented move for the firm.
For its upcoming phones, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau says the company has adopted a new kind of material for the rear panel, improving upon the frosted glass it's been using since the OnePlus 6. Lau says the material will be a smooth matte surface with a metallic sheen to it. One of the color options available will be a blue gradient that transitions from lighter tones to nearly black.
Another big change is the camera housing, which is now circular, instead of the vertical setup on the OnePlus 7 Pro. The company says the round shape stands out against the straight lines of the phone itself, while also offering "perfect symmetry from every angle", though you'll have to ignore the LED flash for that to be true.
It's still not entirely clear if this design will be in both of the OnePlus 7T models, or if it's reserved to the Pro edition. Pete Lau's tweet only mentions OnePlus 7T, and the post on the community forums doesn't elaborate on that either. The smartphones are set to be announced on September 26, so it shouldn't be too long before we know for sure.
