Back in September 2018, OnePlus announced that the company was working on its next product, a smart TV of some sort. At the time details about the device were pretty vague. Not much more has been revealed so far, but the Chinese smartphone manufacturer did just confirm the brand name and logo for its upcoming product.
OnePlus has decided to call its new smart TV product the OnePlus TV - no surprises there - as the brand name is the best representation of its "value, vision and pride". The product name design and logo were unveiled on the company's online community forum, which is where most of the latest OnePlus news is posted.
The Chinese phone maker described the ideology behind the design and concept:
"We were inspired by classic geometric progression, which can be seen from so many classic art forms, such the ancient Hindu symbol, the mandala, and the famous ancient Greek temple, Heraion of Argos. And looking closer, you can tell that the we’ve used the same thickness for both logo and the letters to ensure an aesthetics of "symmetry" and "unity"."
In an interview with PCMag last year, OnePLus CEO Pete Lau stated that the OnePlus TV would focus on smart connectivity and be useable as a connected hub for all the smart devices in a house, taking the home environment to "the next level of connectivity". He also disclosed that the smart television set would feature a 4K display and said that the smart TV was slated for release at some point in 2019.
Not much else was revealed about the OnePlus TV in terms of technical specifications in the brand reveal today. However, the blog post hinted at more information to be unveiled soon and requested readers to "stay tuned as there is more exciting news coming soon".
