OpenAI debuts new $100 ChatGPT Pro plan for heavy users

OpenAI is bridging the massive pricing gap in its subscription lineup by introducing a new $100 per month ChatGPT Pro tier.
OpenAI

Since last year, OpenAI has offered three paid ChatGPT plans for general consumers: Go, Plus, and Pro. The Go plan costs $8 per month, the Plus plan costs $20 per month, and the Pro plan costs $200 per month. Since the introduction of the Pro plan, heavy AI users, especially developers, have been asking for a middle-ground option between Plus and Pro, as the $200 price point is too steep for most people.

Today, OpenAI has finally responded to the feedback by introducing the new $100/month Pro plan. Yes, the ChatGPT Pro plan is now available in two variants: one is $100/month and the other is the existing $200/month. The only difference between these plans is the usage limits. The $100/month Pro plan will offer 5x usage when compared to ChatGPT Plus, while the $200/month plan will offer 20x the usage.

Apart from the extended usage limits, the ChatGPT Pro subscription will offer the following:

  • Pro reasoning with GPT-5.4 Pro
  • Maximum Codex tasks
  • Unlimited GPT-5.3 and file uploads
  • Unlimited and faster image creation
  • Maximum deep research and agent mode
  • Maximum memory and context
  • Expanded projects, tasks, and custom GPTs
  • Research preview of new features

To celebrate the launch of this new $100/month plan, OpenAI is increasing Codex usage for a limited time through May 31st, which will allow $100/month plan users to get up to 10x the usage of ChatGPT Plus on Codex instead of the regular 5x usage.

As part of these changes, the existing Codex promotion for ChatGPT Plus subscribers ends today. OpenAI is also making changes to Codex usage in Plus to support more sessions throughout the week, rather than longer sessions in a single day.

An OpenAI spokesperson also highlighted in an email to us that Codex delivers more coding capacity per dollar across paid tiers when compared to Anthropic's Claude Code. Codex is clearly gaining momentum among developers, with more than 3 million users globally now using Codex every week.
