Opera Software has announced a new update for its mobile-friendly Opera Touch web browser. With today’s update, users can now preview tabs from within the Fast Action Button and it’s possible to switch off the built-in ad blocker for certain websites, helping you contribute to the maintenance of that site by viewing the ads they show.
The first of two big features that have made their way into this update is tab previews. If you’ve not seen Opera Touch before it contains a Fast Action Button at the bottom of the browser which is easy to reach, it contains everything from a QR code scanner, a web search button and all of your open tabs. To make life easier, Opera Touch now lets you move your finger over the tab bubbles and get a preview of what’s open on each tab. Moving your finger over the “tabs” area on the right will also give you a preview of your most recent tabs.
The other big change with this update is the ability to whitelist specific websites from the built-in ad blocker, giving you an easy way to support the websites you want. It’s also handy if the website forces you to enable ads to continue to the website. To whitelist sites, go to the website you want to add, then press the three-dot menu in the upper right of the screen and go to “site options”, from here you can disable the ad blocker and cookie blocker for the site.
If you want to test out these new features, you’ll need Opera Touch 1.10.0 on iOS or Opera Touch 1.20.0 on Android. Both are now available in the respective app stores.
